Unripe bitter orange fruit (Citrus aurantium L. ssp. Bitter Engl.) dry extract, Rhodiola roots (Rhodiola rosea L.) dry extract, Hawthorn flowers and leaves (Crataegus oxyacantha Medicus) dry extract, Passiflora flowering aerial parts (Passiflora incarnata L.) dry extract.
The dry extract of Citrus aurantium and standardized for the content of synephrine, is indicated as an aid in diets finalized to weight loss and as an energizing tonic. According to modern literature, active principles in the extract of Citrus aurantium immature fruit (especially synephrine) would show a selective thermogenic activity and would be able to improve mental and physical performance and improve the ratio of lean mass and fat mass. The plant complex of citrus aurantium would act by stimulating thermogenesis due to increased beta oxidation of fats.
For thermogenesis refers to that particular metabolic process which consists in the production of heat by the organism, especially in adipose and muscle tissue. The magnitude of thermogenesis depends on the type of metabolism and may vary from individual to individual, is in fact linked to genetic factors. These factors determine the amount of “grasso bruno” (brown adipose tissue), which represents the so-called metabolically active tissue, that is capable of producing heat and energy “burning” fats and their derivatives in greater amounts than any other organism district.
Rhodiola rosea has good slimming properties: by stimulating metabolism, Rhodiola promotes the elimination of fat from adipose tissue. In addition, thanks to its anti-anxiety properties Rhodiola decreases the sense of emotional eating. Recall, however, that to achieve a healthy and lasting weight loss, you must make changes to your diet, lifestyle and practicing regular physical activity.
Hawthorn is a source of antioxidant (among which the oligomeric procyanidins and quercertina), sterols and other interesting compounds for health. From flowers and the dried leaves are derived flavonoids and proantocianidoli. The former are powerful antioxidants and “scavengers” of free radicals, which are useful in the prevention of cardiovascular and inflammatory diseases.
Together with proantocianidoli, family of polyphenols belonging to the flavonoid class have cardioprotective functions, sedative and anti-radical. The tannins and flavonoids contained in Hawthorn act at the level of the central nervous system, resulting very useful especially in nervous patients, in which reduces the emotion, the state of tension and improves sleep.
The extract obtained from its aerial parts, also present in many medical products, is used for its calming and antispasmodic effects. It contains several flavonoids (such as iperoside and vitexin), some of which bind to brain receptors for the benzodiazepines, drugs known for their anxiolytic and sedative activity, producing the same effects: soothing action on the central nervous system, in particular on motor area of the spinal cord and the sleep centers.
